Job description1. Position Description:1.1. Working under minimum supervision and using specialized knowledge and experience is responsible for all financial accounting systems for three companies performing work in eight states. Responsible for performing general ledger accounting, reporting, analysis, reconciliations, and necessary allocations for specific company business units. Prepares schedules and works with external auditor. Prepares all reports for internal financial reporting used throughout the Company. Provides management and direction to all Accounts Receivable, Billing, and Accounts Payable clerks. Provides indirect management and quality assurance of all Regional accounting personnel.2. Duties:2.1. Understand, communicate and enforce Company Safety and Performance Program (PASS)2.2. Participate in team meetings and safety meetings2.3. Perform the accounting (financial reporting, performance tracking, bank reconciliation, tax compliance, receivables tracking and auditing) for multiple business units2.4. Prepares the monthly balance sheet by downloading the financial data from all departments and divisions, reviewing the data and preparing income statements, and balances. Financial statement also contains Job Status report including work in progress, percent complete, income against projection and other data2.5. Manage the general ledger, monthly closing process and preparation of monthly and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP2.6. Performs monthly journal entries, depreciations, AR write offs, cash adjustments2.7. Performs monthly balance sheet reconciliations and resolves variances.2.8. Gathers data and prepares preliminary annual budgets for all departments and divisions and submits to Accounting Director for review2.9. Provides accounting support of all accounting functions: accounts receivable, payroll, and accounts payable. Prepares and performs yearend review with independent auditing firm. Works closely with auditors to answer questions, provide documents, and resolve any perceived deficiencies in the accounting2.10. Maintains asset system in Viewpoint by entering assets acquired and removing assets sold and accruing monthly depreciation2.11. Provides monthly multi-state sales tax reporting by running standard reports, reviewing and making adjustments, and filing online with affiliated states2.12. Responsible for performing daily banking for three companies. Make deposits, check balances, make transfers, and resolve all issues2.13. Responsible for processing union fringe benefit tracking and payments to 15 trade unions on a monthly basis2.14. Travels to other regional offices to provide training, resolve billing issues and review accounting processes2.15. Regularly prepares various corporate reports as needed for management, forecasting, evaluating trends and regulatory functions2.16. Works with outside accounting firm and provides supporting schedules for annual financial statements3. Required Skills & Knowledge:3.1. Ability to effectively communicate with employees at all levels3.2. Ability to effectively manage time and prioritize multiple tasks3.3. Ability to research and problem solve complex problems3.4. Advanced skill level in Microsoft Excel with the ability to create pivot tables, operate lookups, and format reports as needed for management3.5. Expert knowledge of General Accounting Principles, Taxation and Financial Analysis3.6. Ability to effectively manage the work of subordinates3.7. Ability to maintain confidentiality of information3.8. Must maintain current valid driver's license and comply with Company Driver's Policy3.9. Must comply with Company Drug and Alcohol policy4. Environmental Conditions:4.1. Usually works in climate controlled industrial office setting with a desktop computer4.2. May require sitting for long periods of time4.3. Requires manual dexterity and ability to utilize keyboard and desktop computer4.4. Requires travel to regional offices to meet with management, provide training, audit financials and review accounting records5. Education and Experience:5.1 Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent training and experience5.2 5 years' experience in accounting role handling payroll, accounts payable/receivable, financial analysis, general ledger and/or corporate benefits or combination of education and experience to equal 5 years

  • 5.3 3 years of auditing experience with a National or Regional accounting firm
