Boeing Defense, Space and Security, In-Space Vehicles, is seeking a highly motivated Senior Electrophysics Engineer (Level 5) to join the Satellite Systems Engineering Team in El Segundo, CA. The Satellite Systems team focuses on several programs that enables communications across the world. Our space systems laboratories deliver rigorous performance evaluation and continues to be the highest quality source for innovative test and engineering solutions. This role allows the opportunity to be a part of a high-performing engineering team that investigate emerging technologies to develop concepts for future product designs. This c andidate will be offered an unique opportunity to work on technology led programs within the space business. This is not a union represented position. Position Overview: The Satellite Systems team provides engineering support on a variety of In-Space Vehicles products. This position is part of the Boeing Defense, Space and Security Space and Launch Organization that has responsibilities over a wide range of products from satellites to rockets. This role will be responsible for working across multiple functions as well as interfacing directly with Engineering Leadership and Program Leadership. This position will define the electrical product designs for Satellite product lines, with accountability across Government and Commercial Satellite Programs. Primary Responsibilities: Lead solar array and panel sizing, power predictions, shadow and over illumination analyses, and program design reviews. Lead Root Cause and Corrective Action investigations. Support yearly fleet updates of all spacecraft in service to update power performance and fleet anomaly investigations. Lead Technology Roadmap and IRAD projects. Develop and validate requirements for unique solar array electrical systems, components, interconnects and structures. Develop architectures to integrate multiple systems into higher level systems and platforms. Conducts tests to validate performance of designs to requirements. Lead development of trade studies, modeling, simulation and other forms of analysis to predict component, interconnects and system performance and to optimize design around complex requirements. Develop new and improved modeling and simulation techniques. Lead development and execution of critical tests to validate performance of designs to requirements. Manage appropriate aspects of critical supplier and partner performance to ensure compliance to requirements. Provide support to products throughout their lifecycle by providing guidance and support to resolve complex issues. Support project management by gathering project status data. Create new tools to improve management of projects. Lead development of major sections of large-scale proposals to support development of new business. Work under consultative direction. Mentor engineers in terms of technical knowledge, project management and stakeholder relationship building. This position requires the ability to obtain U.S. Security Clearance post start, for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. Basic Qualifications (Required Skills and Experience): Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or Chemistry from an ABET accredited program 10 years or more of spacecraft design experience. 10 years or more of electrical systems or power systems experience. Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills and Experience): Experience with spacecraft solar array design. Experience working with tools for data analyses and engineering principles for analyzing product nonconformance. Experience working in a team environment and work across multiple engineering/non-engineering disciplines. Experience with delivering on program commitments --- technical, cost, schedule and risk management. Strong skills in communication, presentation, organization, and leadership. 10 years or more of experience with elements of Electrical Engineering or Physics in space applications. Typical Education/Experience: Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 14 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD9 years' related work experience, Master12 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard. This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility. Basic relocation is available for internal candidates.
